Este era un papel para el que no estaba preparada cuando su marido de 50 a\u00f1os muri\u00f3 de c\u00e1ncer en marzo de 2019, lanz\u00e1ndola al desconocido mundo de la viudez. Como muchas mujeres de la generaci\u00f3n de los primeros Baby-Boomers, creci\u00f3 en una familia biparental con valores cristianos evang\u00e9licos.\u00a0<\/p><p>Durante sus a\u00f1os universitarios, se cas\u00f3 con Dave Gehrls, y posteriormente criaron a tres hijos. Durante los primeros 25 a\u00f1os de su matrimonio, Dave y Sheryl pastorearon iglesias en Michigan, Nebraska, Dakota del Sur y Iowa. Se unieron a Christ for the City International en 1995 y sirvieron como misioneros urbanos en Omaha hasta la muerte de Dave en 2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-8658850 elementor-section-full_width elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"8658850\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ea0f5b4\" data-id=\"ea0f5b4\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-768ff23 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"768ff23\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Durante esos a\u00f1os en Omaha, Sheryl tambi\u00e9n se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como Directora de Ministerios de Atenci\u00f3n Pastoral para una gran congregaci\u00f3n local y fue responsable de la capacitaci\u00f3n y supervisi\u00f3n de m\u00e1s de 200 ministros laicos que cuidaban de ellos. Durante m\u00e1s de 50 a\u00f1os de ministerio, ha reunido una biblioteca llena de recursos valiosos y ha trabajado extensamente en la tutor\u00eda y el desarrollo de liderazgo.<\/p><p>Despu\u00e9s de m\u00e1s de un a\u00f1o de quimioterapia, radiaci\u00f3n y m\u00faltiples cirug\u00edas, la jornada de Sheryl de cuidar de tiempo completo a su esposo que luchaba contra un c\u00e1ncer mortal termin\u00f3 y comenz\u00f3 una nueva temporada. Como todas las viudas que caminaron por este camino antes que ella, se encontr\u00f3 enfrentando nuevas situaciones y tomando decisiones que nunca antes hab\u00eda tomado. \u00a1Y esa monta\u00f1a de papeles\u2026!<\/p><p>Mientras exploraba los recursos disponibles, se dio cuenta de que, si bien hab\u00eda disponibles muchos grupos de apoyo para viudas para lidiar con el duelo, hab\u00eda recursos muy limitados para ayudar a una viuda a cambiar la pregunta: \u201cDios, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 te lo llevaste?\u201d, por la pregunta: \u201cDios, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 me dejaste aqu\u00ed?\u201d Esta es la pregunta crucial, despu\u00e9s de todo. En alg\u00fan momento, toda viuda debe preguntarse: \"\u00bfQu\u00e9 viene ahora para m\u00ed?\"<\/p><p>Un d\u00eda, mientras reflexionaba sobre esta brecha en el proceso de duelo, me vino a la mente la imagen de un caleidoscopio. La vida sigue un patr\u00f3n hermoso y bien establecido, \u00a1y de repente todo cambia! Del caos emerge un nuevo patr\u00f3n, igual de hermoso, pero completamente diferente. As\u00ed naci\u00f3 la idea de Refocusing Widows.<\/p><p>Sheryl comenz\u00f3 a discutir las posibilidades de formar una nueva iniciativa ministerial con el equipo de liderazgo de Fresh Hope, y en agosto del 2021 se mud\u00f3 de Christ For the City para formar parte del personal internacional de Fresh Hope. Fresh Hope es el ministerio principal de Refocusing Widows, y proporciona la estructura de grupo de igual a igual respaldada por la investigaci\u00f3n que ser\u00e1 una parte tan importante del ministerio.
