Cada historia es \u00fanica, y cada una de ustedes todav\u00eda est\u00e1 escribiendo su historia. \u00a1Lo\nsorprendente de estas historias es que cada una tiene un final sorpresa para que Usted lo descubra!<\/p>

Escribir un blog es una aventura nueva para m\u00ed, as\u00ed que decid\u00ed comenzar compartiendo un poco de mi historia personal.\nDave y yo llev\u00e1bamos casados 48 a\u00f1os cuando apareci\u00f3 un c\u00e1ncer maligno debajo de su lengua. Como muchos hombres,\nDave hab\u00eda pospuesto ir al m\u00e9dico pensando que ten\u00eda una irritaci\u00f3n que necesitaba curarse por s\u00ed sola. En su primera\nvisita al otorrinolaring\u00f3logo, el m\u00e9dico program\u00f3 un procedimiento para extirpar el \u00e1rea afectada y el tejido\ncircundante. Ese d\u00eda comenz\u00f3 una serie de cirug\u00edas para extirpar peque\u00f1as secciones adicionales de su lengua hasta que\nobtuvimos m\u00e1rgenes claros.<\/p>

In January of 2018 the surgeon pronounced him cancer-free with no need to check-in for 6 months. At 5 months Dave became concerned about a small lump he could feel in the side of his neck. The PET scan was moved up, and sure enough \u2014 a new cancer appeared in a lymph node in his neck. The ENT surgeon began another surgery to remove it, but decided it was too complex for him. So, he closed and referred us to a Head & Neck specialist at the Buffet Cancer Center in Omaha. And that’s where this present story began.<\/p>

En agosto del 2018, Dave se someti\u00f3 a una cirug\u00eda de 16 horas en la que le extirparon aproximadamente la mitad de la\nlengua, 3 pulgadas de la vena yugular y la mayor parte del m\u00fasculo del lado izquierdo del cuello, adem\u00e1s de un gran\ntumor maligno y 40 ganglios linf\u00e1ticos. Estuvo a punto de morir dos veces m\u00e1s durante ese fin de semana, tuvo dos\ncirug\u00edas de emergencia m\u00e1s y pas\u00f3 5 d\u00edas con un ventilador. Un equipo de m\u00e1s de 30 personas trabaj\u00f3 en \u00e9l, incluido un\ncirujano de cabeza y cuello realmente brillante y un cirujano reconstructivo igualmente brillante. Me aseguraron que era\nun procedimiento ordinario, que todo hab\u00eda ido a la perfecci\u00f3n y que Dave deber\u00eda recuperarse por completo.<\/p>

Ocho meses, 33 tratamientos de radiaci\u00f3n, 7 tratamientos de quimioterapia, innumerables procedimientos quir\u00fargicos y\ncientos de citas m\u00e1s tarde, el onc\u00f3logo se par\u00f3 junto a la cama de Dave conmigo y me dijo: \u201cNo s\u00e9 qu\u00e9 decirle. \u00a1Todo lo\nque probamos no lo mat\u00f3! No hay nada m\u00e1s que podamos hacer. Ese fue probablemente el peor d\u00eda de nuestros 50\na\u00f1os juntos. Cinco d\u00edas despu\u00e9s, Dave escuch\u00f3 que el Padre lo llamaba por su nombre y dio la vuelta al c\u00e1ncer para caer\nen los brazos de Jes\u00fas.<\/p>

Entonces, de repente me qued\u00e9 viuda.<\/p>

Eso cambi\u00f3 cada simple cosa de mi vida. Cada. Simple. Cosa.<\/p>

I had more questions than I had answers. A veritable mountain of paperwork stood before me. I suddenly felt like the most intimidated, incompetent person ever to live on the planet. An unending path extended before me, and I had to walk it alone. My kids and grandkids were wonderful… no doubt about it. But I still had to adjust to being alone and making ALL the decisions. Fifty years of marriage had created a comfortable division of labor, and now that was gone. I was now half of a couple learning how to be an “I” after fifty years of being “We”.<\/p>

Mientras investigaba recursos para viudas, encontr\u00e9 montones, montones de grupos de duelo.
