A few weeks ago, I was privileged to record a podcast interview with Pastor Brad Hoefs, the Founder/Director of Fresh Hope for Mental Health. As you may know, Fresh Hope is the non-profit that houses Refocusing Widows. In September 2021 I officially “retired” from Christ For the City International, and moved to fulltime staff with Fresh Hope for Mental Health to launch this new ministry initiative for widows.

In the podcast, I had the opportunity to share some of the vision for Refocusing Widows. While there are many grief support groups available, few of them challenge widows to utilize leadership/personal growth tools to both embrace the grief and loss, and to move ahead with a new season of life. My heart is to help widows find what God has prepared and equipped them to do next, and to begin to move towards that purpose.

Every support group will be facilitated by someone who is a widow herself, and who has experienced the journey of moving from grief to a thriving, joyful life based on the faith-filled hope that only Jesus offers.

As you listen, please pray that the content we develop for these groups will be helpful, hope-filled, and relevant to where widows are walking. If you know widows who would like to join a group, or who would be willing to facilitate a group, or even a pastor who would like to host a group in their church, please put them in touch with me at sheryl@freshhope.us.
